V is for Victory: 2010 Yamaha VX Series is Better than Ever

10/19/2009

For five years now, the Yamaha VX Series has dominated the value segment. In fact, Yamaha VX sales account for 52% of the entire value segment. For 2010, the best-selling, most popular watercraft in the history of the PWC industry are virtually all-new with the first major update to the line since their introduction in 2005. First of all, the Yamaha VX line is more stream-lined providing customers three distinct choices that include the VX Cruiser, the series flagship that features Cruiser comfort; the VX Deluxe, the best-selling all-around model in the PWC industry; and the VX Sport, the most affordable WaveRunner in the Yamaha line. Under the seat, the VX Series' 1052cc engine has been updated with a new computer program that increases fuel economy by 10 percent without compromising performance. That's quite an accomplishment when you consider that the VX engine has been the most fuel-efficient motor ever in a three-person PWC. The most noticeable enhancement to the VX line is the new design that integrates the look and feel of Yamaha's luxury watercraft by creating a roomier cockpit for the operator. To do that, the seat length of the VX has been increased to provide four more inches of legroom for the driver. The overall effect is not only more comfortable for the operator, but it also gives the VX Series a striking new profile that mirrors Yamaha's more expensive FX line. Completing the cockpit are new mirrors that have been repositioned for imporoved visibility, a larger glove box; and a larger, more convenient reverse lever. For passengers, the seat of the VX Series has been redisigned for more comfort when riding with two or three people. In addition, the padded surface of the VX reboarding platform has been increased for added comfort and versatility. One of the key reasons for the VX Series' success is its exhilarating ride. Now, the best ride in the Value category is even better with refinements that include a new ride plate, repositioned new sponsons and a new design that moves the center of gravity more aft. These changes strengthen the handling character of the new VX Series, making it more nimble on the water and more fun to drive than ever before. With the introduction of the 2010 VX Series, the Yamaha WaveRunner line is new with every product launched within the last two years. This further separates Yamaha from anyone in the industry, and makes Yamaha WaveRunners even more attractive to anyone in the market for a new PWC.
